Military pensioners give Jonathan 30-day ultimatum over pension arrears By Emma Amaize

WARRI—Angry military pensioners in the country have given President Goodluck Jonathan a 30-day ultimatum to pay pension arrears or risk actions that may jeopardise next month’s presidential election.
The National Association of Military Pensioners, in a letter to Mr. President by its National President, Major Eromafuru Benson (rtd.), said: “The time has come for you to pay all accumulated military pension arrears or risk the 2015 general elections from taking place.
“We have waited this long after five years of absolute neglect by your administration. We have been cheated, deprived and treated like slaves and second class citizens in this country despite all cries, pleading and even begging for what belongs to us.
“If after our 30 days ultimatum which will expire on January 30, you still refuse to pay us, then the 2015 general elections coming up in February will witness horrible incidents.”
